Glaucoma

We adopt the latest diagnostic and treatment technologies to protect eye health and preserve vision.

Glaucoma at Al-Noor Eye Center

What is Glaucoma?

Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases associated with increased intraocular pressure, which gradually damages the optic nerve. This damage affects vision and may lead to vision loss if not treated properly.

How does glaucoma affect vision?

  • At first, the visual field appears normal.
  • As the disease progresses and eye pressure rises, the visual field gradually narrows, and in advanced cases, it may lead to complete vision loss if left untreated.

Treatment options for glaucoma

At Al-Noor Eye Center, we focus on early detection of glaucoma, where eye pressure can be controlled, and its effects reduced through:

  • Regular use of eye drops to lower intraocular pressure.
  • Laser therapy, such as trabeculoplasty, to improve fluid drainage inside the eye.
  • In some cases, implanting valves to drain excess fluid effectively.

Regular follow-ups with our doctors are essential to monitor eye pressure and adjust treatment as needed, in order to preserve optic nerve health and prevent vision loss.

Evaluation of optic nerve-related disorders

At Al-Noor Eye Center, we also provide advanced diagnostic tests for optic nerve-related conditions such as:

  • Disorders of the third, fourth, and sixth cranial nerves affecting eye movement.
  • Migraine headaches associated with eye conditions.
  • Double vision.
  • Optic neuritis in cases of multiple sclerosis.
  • Increased intracranial pressure requiring relief on the optic nerve.
  • Diagnosis of brain tumors compressing the optic nerve.
